EVs are the world’s fastest-growing automotive segment right now, and every major manufacturer is either offering some models already or has some in the works.
Aside from price, the range and power are arguably the most important factors when choosing an electric car, and both have increased drastically over the last decade.
Let’s look at 10 of the best EVs available in 2024, ranging from relatively affordable to millionaire wishlist stuff.
Rolls-Royce Spectre

Rolls-Royce says the Spectre is the world’s first ultra-luxurious electric super coupé, and who are we to argue?!
The full-size electric grand tourer was formally launched in 2023 as the company’s first EV. It’s built on the same platform as the Phantom and Cullinan, has a 264-mile EPA range and 321-mile WLTP range. Electric cars need all the help they can get to maximize their range, and with a drag coefficient of 0.25, the Spectre is the most aerodynamic car ever built by Rolls-Royce.
Maserati GranTurismo Folgore

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore’s powertrain is developed using Formula E-derived technology. Its 800-volt battery sends its juice to three permanent magnet motors that power all four wheels.
With as much as 818 hp, the all-electric GranTurismo is a lot more powerful than the gasoline-powered versions that produce a “mere” 542 hp.
Porsche Taycan

Enthusiasts expect Porsches to look and perform in a certain way, and while the Taycan is the company’s first EV, there’s no mistaking it for anything else — it looks and drives just like a Porsche should.
Like the Stuttgart-based manufacturer’s other mainstream models, the Taycan is just as good during the daily commute as it is on twisty backroads. The flagship Turbo S model has two electric motors producing 751 hp and 774 ft-lb, making it one of the world’s fastest-accelerating vehicles, and it even offers a 345-mile range.
BMW i4

BMW’s i4 sedan may look like the gasoline-powered 4-Series Grand Coupe, but it has a fully electric powertrain. Those looking for maximum performance should check out the i4 M50 M Performance. It uses two electric motors — one in the front and one at the rear — and with 536 hp and 586 lb-ft of instant torque, it’ll launch to 60 mph in a tire-scorching 3.3 seconds.
Some claim the i4 M50 M Performance even handles and drives better than the M3, which speaks volumes. Not everyone is a fan of EVs, but if this is what the future looks like, we think it’s pretty awesome!
Lotus Eletre

In 2022, Lotus unveiled the Eletre full-size luxury crossover SUV EV. While it may carry the British company’s badge, the Eletre is made in China, alongside some of the world’s best-selling EVs right now.
Lotus offers the Eletre in three trim levels: base, S, and R. All of them have a 112 kWh battery. The base and S trims have a dual-motor setup with 603 hp and 524 lb-ft of torque, while the R trim has a more powerful setup that sends 905 hp and 726 lb-ft to the wheels via a 2-speed gearbox.
Hyundai Kona Electric

Hyundai offers the Kona with gasoline and hybrid powertrains alongside the electric version. The Kona Electric is one of the biggest bargains in the electric crossover SUV segment, offering plenty of standard features, lots of cargo space, and comfortable ride quality. It even looks stylish and stands out from the crowd.
The Kona Electric is available with 133 and 210 hp, both versions are front-wheel drive. Those opting for the more powerful version can expect a 0 to 60 mph time around the seven-second mark.
Hyundai Ioniq 6

We love the Hyundai Ioniq SE’s design — its sleek lines resemble those of the Porsche 911 and Citroën DS, two of the most iconic cars ever made. It actually looks more aerodynamic than some sports cars.
The Ioniq 6 is based on the Ionic 5 SUV platform, which means it offers similar powertrain options, ranging from a 149-hp single-motor setup to a 320-hp dual-motor AWD long-range version.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

Hyundai is on a roll these days. Who would’ve thought that a Korean electric SUV would become one of the coolest, most fun and exciting models on the market? Because that’s precisely what the Ioniq 5 N is. Don’t take our word for it, even Top Gear granted it the coveted Car of the Year award.
It has an 84.0-kWh battery pack, offering an EPA-estimated range of 221 miles of mixed driving. The Ioniq 5 N will even launch to 60 mph from a standstill in just over three seconds — that’s supercar performance!
Tesla Model 3

We couldn’t make a list of the best EVs without including at least one Tesla, so here we have the Model 3. Looks-wise, the Tesla Model 3 has a lot in common with the other Teslas, and separating the base Model 3 from the Performance version is nigh-on impossible for the uninitiated.
Even the base model offers decent performance. Its single motor produces 271hp, and it takes 5.8 seconds to reach 60 mph.
Polestar 2

Polestar started out in motorsports, but these days, it’s Volvo’s electric car division. Since Polestar doesn’t have its own factories, the Polestar 2 is built by the Luqiao CMA Super Factory in China.
The Polestar 2 was given some updates for the 2024 model year, and other than the facelifted design, the entry-level model now has RWD instead of FWD. Those wanting maximum performance should check out the AWD dual-motor model with 421 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque, sending it to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds.
