How can you not love the Harley-Davidson Nightster cruiser? It’s one of the most powerful on the market, with nearly 80 horsepower, and one of the best looking as well. However, there are some equally brilliant cruisers on the secondhand market with even more power.

This list contains eleven of the best cruisers with more power than the Harley-Davidson Nightster. All of these bikes are worth every penny, and they are at least as powerful as a brand-new Nightster.

Triumph Rocket

Of all the used cruisers you can buy, few have as much power as the insane Triumph Rocket. This sensational motorcycle has up to 180 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque, so it can easily take on the Nightster.

The Rocket debuted in 2004 and won many awards along the way. Depending on the condition and mileage, a secondhand one could cost as little as $14,000.

Yamaha V Star 1300

Yamaha knows how to make a good cruiser with a distinctive American look. The V Star 1300 is an amazing-looking motorcycle with its excellent 1,304 cc four-valve SOHC engine between the frame.

That engine produces 72.5 horsepower and 81.8 lb-ft of torque, putting it very much on par with the Nightster. Yamaha made the V Star 1300 from 2007 to 2017, and you can pick one up secondhand for as little as $6,000.

Honda Shadow Aero

Although the Honda Shadow Aero produces less power than the Nightster, it is too good a bike not to include on this list. First of all, it’s an excellent-looking machine, with it easily rivaling anything Harley-Davidson can produce.

Secondly, it has a superb 745 cc 52-degree liquid-cooled three-valve V-twin engine between the frame. An engine that is good enough for 45 horsepower and 47 lb-ft of torque. It won’t set the world alight, but it’s still a damn good engine.

Indian Scout

India is one of the most famous motorcycle manufacturers in the world and one that knows a thing or two about producing excellent cruisers. The Indian Scout is one of them, and it’s been a part of the company’s lineup for over a decade.

Power comes from a liquid-cooled V-twin engine that, in the latest version, produces 85 horsepower and 65 lb-ft of torque. Thankfully, there are plenty available secondhand that can save you quite a few dollars.

Triumph America

The Triumph America, also known as the Bonneville America, is one of the most outrageous-looking cruisers on this list. Packed between the frames is a superb DOHC air-cooled 865 cc parallel-twin engine that produces 69 horsepower and 53 lb-ft of torque.

It’s a brilliant-looking motorcycle that can be easily found secondhand. If you are lucky, you could pick one up for just $5,500, making this an absolute steal.

Triumph Thunderbird

Another one of Triumph’s excellent motorcycles is the stunning Thunderbird. Reintroduced in 2009, the Thunderbird revived the name after a five-year hiatus, and it took things to the next level.

Power came from a 1,600 cc engine that produces 85 horsepower and 108 lb-ft of torque. If buyers opted for the 1,700 cc engine in the Commander and Storm models, they got 93 and 97 horsepower and 111 and 115 lb-ft of torque, respectively. Sadly, Triumph discontinued the Thunderbird in 2016.

Suzuki Boulevard C109R

Japanese manufacturer Suzuki also knows how lucrative the cruiser motorcycle segment is, so it got in on the act with the striking Boulevard C109R. It’s one of the most comfortable cruisers ever made and one of the best-looking, with a distinctive 1950s-style design.

Power comes from a massive 109 ci engine that produces up to 114 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque. Performance figures that the Nighster can only dream about having.

Harley-Davidson Iron 1200

The Iron 1200 is running the Nightster close from within the Harley-Davidson family. This is one of Harley-Davidson’s more subtle cruiser bikes, and depending on its condition, you can easily pick it up used for around $3,500.

Power comes from a beefy 1,200 cc engine that makes 66 horsepower and 70.1 lb-ft of torque, putting it least on par with the Nightster. It is a brilliant motorcycle, and like other Harleys, there are plenty of extras available to customize the bike.

Yamaha Road Star XV1600A

Also on par with the Nightster is the stylish and dramatic Yamaha Road Star XV1600A. First introduced in 1999, the XV1600A was the most significant production of a V-twin engine Yamaha had produced up to that point.

The 1,602 cc Road Star V-twin was innovative, with features such as forged pistons, composite cylinder sleeves, and a four-valves-per-cylinder design. In total, the mighty V-twin produced 62.6 horsepower and around 90 lb-ft of torque.

Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200

The Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 is another bike within the Harley family that can run the Nightster pretty close. Like the Iron 1200, it’s one of the more subtle cruisers in the American manufacturer’s range. But it rides just as well as some of its most dramatic motorcycles.

The bike’s power comes from a 45-degree V-twin engine that produces 67 horsepower and 64 lb-ft of torque. It’s easy to ride, too, and you can pick one up secondhand for as little as $5,000 or perhaps lower if you are lucky.

Honda VF1100C Magna V65

One of the most striking-looking cruisers on this list is the Honda VF1100C Magna V65. Honda produced this bike from 1983 to 1986, which makes the motorcycle’s performance figures even more remarkable.

The Magna V65’s power came from a massive 1,100 cc V4 engine that produced an astonishing 116 horsepower and 66 lb-ft of torque—more than some of the more modern motorcycles on this list. The Magna V65 was an overpowered cruiser, with double the horsepower of your average V-twin cruiser. Not only that but thanks to its Honda upbringing, the Magna V65 is also an exceptionally reliable motorcycle.
